Attention, naturists: A software company in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England, is advertising for your software skills. Nude House purports to be a software developer in which employees are required to "work totally nude and only dress when they leave the offices and undress when they arrive at the offices."
"All the staff will be naked all day long," the site adds. This includes a ban on wearing shoes, according to one report.
"The staff will mostly be sales and marketing boys and girls selling and promoting all the range of software systems developed for the customers. We may also employ some web designers working within the same context. The software works on the Internet and is demonstrated to the customers online without the salesperson needing to be present."
"There is no need for customers to be aware that the staff work in the nude."
Nude House is a division of Songbird, a firm that sells a promotional e-commerce application called Move Your Mouse.
Such an unusual work environment, coupled with the amateurish appearance of the Nude House site, has caused some to speculate that the announcement is either a hoax or some kind of viral marketing. But Nude House founder Chris Taylor insisted to a CNET reporter that it's all legitimate. Taylor describes himself as having been a naturist for about three years.
According to the CNET article, office facilities include "warm temperatures, showers, and a collection hamper for soiled sitting material."
The Craigslist ad specifically called for female coders with pay around $40,000 USD a year. But Taylor is quoted in another article saying that "All new applicants will be naturists and could be males or females."
Where do we sign up?
