Anatomy of a sexual style

reclining nudeThe True Stories section of Nakedism includes entries from my personal sex diaries as well as other true accounts written especially for you, treasured reader. But I thought it might also be useful to take a step back and analyze my own sexual style in more detail.

Alas, beyond a few stray comments, I have no affidavits of former trysts and boyfriends to give you an alternate point of view. (I'm not sure how many of us would want to read such reports anyway.) I can only tell you how I perceive my own lovemaking. The only disclaimer I will make is that my style can vary considerably depending who I'm with. Which is probably what many of us would expect, no?

Anyway, if any of that interests you, stroll on over to the Stories section and check out the latest post, an essay I call Top Form. Then decide for yourself whether I can really be called a conscientious injector.

Nakedism live chat switches to CamFuze

Live jackingThe twice weekly live video chats with members is switching to a new service. CamFuze. Under the new system, users won't have to enter a password to participate in live shows.

A (free) CamFuze account, however, is still needed in order to type messages during the chat. We recommend you use the same login name on CamFuze as you do on Nakedism. That will make it easier to be added to the list that always has access to private chats. Alternatively, you can communicate your Nakedism login name to Bucephalus during chat to get added to the private room list.

As part of the change, chat times will now only be visible to registered members.

Photo exhibit explores public nudity

Erica Simone's show features nude self-portraitsHow would people perceive us differently if we didn't have fashion to signify our status, style, and wealth? That's the question photographer Erica Simone, 25, addresses in her series of self-portraits in which she appears nude in several public settings around New York City.

Twenty such portraits form a key part of Simone's new exhibit, which opens April 14 at the Dash Gallery in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood. The exhibit is entitled "Nue York: Self-Portraits of a Bare Urban Citizen." The photos show her shopping, reaching for a book from a library shelf, begging like a homeless person, running a hot dog stand, shoveling snow, and more, all in the nude, save for a few accessories like a hat, shoes, gloves, or jewelry.

On her Web site, the Parisian-born artist describes her work as a reaction to a populace more concerned about the sales at Barney's than the homeless people in the subway. "It makes me think: What would we do without clothes?" she writes. "How would we portray ourselves to other people?" How would we show our social status to obtain the treatment we want or deserve from others? Would we feel comfortable just being who we are and not having to show off what we have (materialistically speaking)?"

Examples from exhibit can be seen in a slide show at Simone's site, Nue York.

Spur of the moment

Nude men embraceMaybe you like the thrill of hopping online, finding a suitable stud, and heading off to a quickie as soon as possible. Depending on where you live, the Internet can be good for that sort of convenience shopping.

But personally, that's not my style. I'm wary of evaluating chemistry based on a few photos and a handful of messages. I find a slower path not only assures better outcomes, but the journey there can be a lot of sexy fun as well.

That said, I've definitely found myself so turned on by the thrill of the moment, that I've thrown caution to the wind and dived right in.

In my latest true story, Trick, I talk about this tug of war between wanting to take things slow and wanting to get off right away. In this case, I think I pulled off a good balance, although it was not without risk. Writing about it brought back some searing hot memories of intense sexual ecstasy. I hope you enjoy it.

Nude stroll gets Victoria man taken for psych evaluation

Walking naked in publicPolice in Victoria, British Columbia, took a man to a hospital for a mental evaulation because he was nude. According to published reports, a man was seen walking down the 900 block of Bay Street Monday in Vancouver Island's largest city, Victoria. Apparently a concerned woman attempted to cover the man's midsection with a towel, but it didn't stay long.

Police officers approached the man and asked why he was naked. In reply, the man simply asked the officers why they were wearing clothes. "Point taken," the officers wrote in the Victoria Police blog. The officers then proceeded to take the man to a hospital for a mental health assessment.

Published reports don't say whether the man exhibited any signs of mental illness. But apparently in a society so terrified of the exposed human body, simply being naked is taken as a sign of mental imbalance.

In Nakedism's opinion, it is anti-nudity laws and society's body phobia that should be evaluated, not the simple desire to enjoy a walk without clothing.

Morning would

Naked in bedAlthough it often seems like men online and in bars are looking for hookups at night, I've always been a fan of morning sex. After all, it's normal for men to get erections from specific neuro-reflexes that are stimulated during the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, thought to be the cause of so-called morning wood. The extra blood flow to the penis at night helps to keep your penis healthy. And if you wake up with a healthy penis, why not make it a happy one as well?

Such a thought was the inspiration behind the newest offering posted to our video collection: Bird's Eye View. My ceiling-mounted Web cam captured a typical morning scenario for me, a deeply satisfying way of waking myself up.

Two things are notable about this video. First, we've increased the display size significantly. Use the comment area below the video (or here) to let us know if you like the larger size or not.

Second, the video is the video-scoring debut of our talented illustrator, Jayceeloop. Jaycee has a long career as a musician and composer, but this is the first time he's scored a video. We are very lucky to have his talents. I hope you enjoy the music as much as I do.

Tufts president strips students of naked tradition

Flickr Photo by PolarBearRunCiting safety and legal issues, Tufts University President Lawrence Bacow is ending the tradition of student streaking at the end of fall semester. For more than 30 years, students have engaged in a campus nude run, called the Naked Quad Run, in the month of December to celebrate the end of classes.

But in an op-ed piece in the student newspaper this week, Bacow said the activity is too dangerous because of student drinking, slick sidewalks, and winter temperatures. He also expressed concern that police consider it illegal. According to an Associated Press story, disappointed students blame the action on a few drunks ruining the activity for everyone.

The day following the announcement, dozens of students participated in a partially nude protest run. Campus police did not interfere, but remained in their squad cars. The school paper, Tufts Daily, quoted one student as saying the protest event shows the naked quad run will continue. But other student leaders are already organizing a contest to create a replacement activity for the naked-in-public tradition.

BBC looks at naked people

BBC documentary looks at nudityA 2009 BBC documentary on the subject of nudity is now available for online viewing at the Top Documentary Films Web site. The hour-long program showcases interviews with evolutionary experts alongside reports of eight men and women whose are asked to participate in a variety of clothing-free activities. These include CMNM and CFNM situations, body painting, interviews, and more.

The show spreads itself thin, attempting to cover far more aspects of human nudity and related social concerns than can reasonably done in an hour. For example, in attempting to find a rationale for why humans started wearing clothes, the filmmakers interview only one expert, whose opinion strikes us as highly speculative. And the activities surrounding the eight subjects asked to undress for each other seem to be more about titillation and example than any serious scientific research.

However the show also looks at how humans became "naked" in the first place — that is, lost the body hair and fur tha characterizes their nearest relatives in the animal kingdom. These topics are handled in greater depth and are consequently more interesting.

The entire show can be viewed online at topdocumentaryfilms.com/whats-the-problem-with-nudity.

Daddy means business

dirty daddy sans pantsWhat is it about the daddy image that some guys find so attractive? Is it the manly sense of confidence, the quiet sense of control? Maybe it's the role of authority?

If so, maybe the foxy boss image turns you on. I suspect everyone has had a fantasy about someone they've worked with. What would it be to see them gradually strip out of their work clothes, get aroused, and make you the object of their lust?

With thoughts like that going through my horny mind, I put on a little business drag and indulged in some office fantasies while resident photographer Andrew Adam Caldwell captured it all on camera. Check it out in our latest photo set.

Nakedism photographer selected for Seattle festival

Andrew Caldwell's entry in the 2011 festivalAndrew Adam Caldwell, Nakedism's own photographer in residence, has been chosen as one of fewer than 200 artists whose works will appear in the 2011 Seattle Erotic Art Festival, to be held from May 20 to 22 with a launch party on April 2.

Andrew's work was selected by festival jurors from 1,984 submissions received from 521 artists in 40 states and 25 countries. Only about 10% of the art submitted was accepted.

The work chosen for the exhibition is the portrait excerpted here of model Cory Barnes, whom we hope to feature in a future Nakedism photo set.

Andrew's work has appeared in six out of the last seven festivals. In his first appearance in 2005, his submission won the Audience Award in the Northwest Category. As a result, he was an Invited Artist the following year. Andrew was also an Invited Artist in the mini-festival the group sponsored in 2008.

Hosting the May 20-22 event is Fremont Studios, a sound stage production facility in Seattle's Fremont district, long considered one of Seattle's artist communities. The April 2 Launch Party will be held at Cirque Event Center at 121 Taylor Avenue.

The Seattle Erotic Art Festival, or SEAF, showcases visual, performance and literary art, interactive installations, film, after parties, workshops, and a Festival Store. With a theme of "Red Light District," the festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors.

For more information, visit the SEAF Web site.

Is America not ready for sexy dares?

Ubisoft We Dare videoGame developer Ubisoft has a new offering for Wii and Playstation 3: We Dare. Ubisoft describes the product as "a sexy, quirky, party game that offers a large variety of hilarious, innovative and physical, sometimes kinky, challenges." Judging from the commercial, the game itself looks pretty tame, offering harmless cartoon characters that players manipulate with the Wii controller.

But the ad itself goes much further, suggesting that couples will want to spice up the action with some controller action of their own.

The catch, for Americans anyway, is that Ubisoft won't be selling the product in the U.S. According to the online gaming magazine IGN, the developer has even now blocked the ads from appearing on YouTube in the U.S. The rest of the world can see this (totally harmless) TV ad, but not poor, puritanical America. But you can still watch them on IGN's site.

Mixing the concept of dares with sexy situations is one of Nakedism's favorite ways to enjoy getting or staying undressed. You hardly need a video game for that. Still, it's kind of sad that America's reputation for social conservatism has stopped Ubisoft from even trying to sell such a mild product in one of the world's biggest markets.

Poolside pleasure

Bucephalus nude by a swimming poolEven many die-hard anti-nudists will admit to you that bathing or even swimming naked is a perfectly natural instinct. What could feel better than to be immersed in warm water without the weight and encumbrance of clothing? Although I have no hot tub of my own, I do have a friend with both a pool and hot tub, as well as a clothing optional home. So I make sure to visit him on a regular basis when the weather is warm.

Of course sometimes when naked and warm, a man's attention often turns to other forms of pleasure. It was with that idea in mind that I turned the camera on one sunny day as I was basking in the hot tub and by my friend's pool. Check it out in the latest update to our video page.

Social media options come to Nakedism

Uncovering social mediaNakedism now lets you track what's new, naked, or naughty with us a number of different ways: A Blogspot blog, a Facebook page, Twitter, Formspring, and even RSS. All the necessary links are found in a new social media bar just above the quick links on the Nakedism home page.

For the most part, the Blogger postings are just another way to publicize the same content you are reading here. For some readers, this will be a more convenient way to see what's new on the site and be able to quickly jump to new content via the links.

The Facebook page and Twitter feed present other ways to keep up with Nakedism, but with some differences. Because of Facebook's conservative nature, Nakedism's Facebook presence won't reflect the same content as Nakedism nor be updated as often. But it will have the same focus on naked freedom and help keep Facebook fans in touch. You can also post to Nakedism's Facebook wall.

The Nakedist Twitter stream, on the other hand, while including alerts to new Nakedism.com content, also has more personal notes from Bucephalus on his naked and erotic doings. Impromptu free Webcam shows are usually announced here.

Formspring gives you still another spin, letting you demand the naked truth of Bucephalus's clothes-free life with whatever questions you want to pose. Expose every inch of him with your most personal inquiries!

Finally, the RSS option lets you track updates to the site using Real Simple Syndication.

To connect with Nakedism on any of these services, go to the Home page and click the appropriate icon on the social media bar underneath the main graphic.

Seeing stars

Seeing StarsWe all have fantasy men — guys we see on the street, in the gym, in porn, or maybe just creations of our own mind. We imagine what it would be like to meet them, talk to them, and, of course, a whole lot more.

But what if you actually met your fantasy? In some parts of the U.S. (presumably Los Angeles, for instance), meeting and fucking porn actors probably isn't that uncommon. But for me, meeting one porn star in particular rocked my sexual world.

In this week's true sex stories, I recall my first encounter with one of the most powerfully sexual and intensely erotic men I have ever met. Check it out here. Then consider posting a comment telling about the hottest man you every connected with.

Romp Naked returns to Seattle

Naked men dancingThere was a time in Seattle when male nudists could look forward, twice or more times a year, to an evening of naked dancing and relaxation. The animus behind the events was, to quote the group's Web site, a desire to create "an alternative nude gathering in Seattle for men to honor male erotic energy through art, music and dance." Unfortunately for fans of the event, the volunteer-driven effort has not been held since 2008.

That, however, is about to change. Romp Naked organizers have created a Facebook group and sent out Facebook invitations for the next event, scheduled for Saturday March 12, at 8:00 p.m. The location is the LIttle Red Bistro's Event Space on Dexter Avenue in Seattle's Denny regrade neighborhood.

From its inception, Romp has tried to steer a path between strictly nonsexual nudism on one extreme and open sexual activity on the other. "Romp Naked is definitely a sexy party, not a sex party," states the group's Facebook page and site.

Instead, the volunteer organizers try for something in the middle: "Romp Naked provides a space for men of all ages, colors, and shapes to express themselves freely. The space we generate builds and holds erotic energy," they state.

We at Nakedism applaud an event that celebrates the nude body without denying its erotic elements.

In the past, the space has consisted of a large area for dancing and a separate "chill space" where guests can relax, socialize, and trade massage.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from Brown Paper Tickets.

Friends and lovers

Loving friendsThe so-called sexual revolution is said to have been a phenomenon of sexual liberation that happened in the 1960s through the 1970s. In fact, of course, sexual relations in our culture continue to evolve. More and more, people are willing to break down the once-solid barriers between categories like "friends" and "lovers" — something gay men have been doing for years. The old continuum from platonic friend to loving spouse has given way to options like polyamorous lovers, fuck buddies, friends with benefits, and more.

My good friend Gary and I tried the dating thing, but it didn't work out. But we remain good friends and are completely comfortable enjoying our own and each other's bodies. In our latest photoset, photographer Andrew Caldwell captures some of the fun and electricity of that friendship. Check it out — I think you'll see what I mean.

About last night

Bucephalus on camThis past week there was a little problem with the countdown timer on Nakedism's Live Chat page, making it seem as if the next show was always three days away. D'oh! I apologize to anyone who was confused as to the live chat schedule.

The problem was fixed last night and hopefully won't come again. You should be able to tell the time and date of the next show by the ever-changing text on the Live Chat page. And if you hover your mouse pointer over the countdown, a popup tool tip should show you the exact date and time.

Despite this little problem, the show must go on! Members logged in last night for the show, giving comments, asking questions, and making requests while I did my best to entertain. For example, one member wanted me to jack off and then eat my own spooge. Although that's not a normal practice for me, I was happy to oblige!

It's fun interacting with our members. And of course always fun to be naked and stroke my meat. I hope you can join us next time.
