There was a time in Seattle when male nudists could look forward, twice or more times a year, to an evening of naked dancing and relaxation. The animus behind the events was, to quote the group's Web site, a desire to create "an alternative nude gathering in Seattle for men to honor male erotic energy through art, music and dance." Unfortunately for fans of the event, the volunteer-driven effort has not been held since 2008.
That, however, is about to change. Romp Naked organizers have created a Facebook group and sent out Facebook invitations for the next event, scheduled for Saturday March 12, at 8:00 p.m. The location is the LIttle Red Bistro's Event Space on Dexter Avenue in Seattle's Denny regrade neighborhood.
From its inception, Romp has tried to steer a path between strictly nonsexual nudism on one extreme and open sexual activity on the other. "Romp Naked is definitely a sexy party, not a sex party," states the group's Facebook page and site.
Instead, the volunteer organizers try for something in the middle: "Romp Naked provides a space for men of all ages, colors, and shapes to express themselves freely. The space we generate builds and holds erotic energy," they state.
We at Nakedism applaud an event that celebrates the nude body without denying its erotic elements.
In the past, the space has consisted of a large area for dancing and a separate "chill space" where guests can relax, socialize, and trade massage.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from Brown Paper Tickets.
