Andrew Adam Caldwell, Nakedism's own photographer in residence, has been chosen as one of fewer than 200 artists whose works will appear in the 2011 Seattle Erotic Art Festival, to be held from May 20 to 22 with a launch party on April 2.
Andrew's work was selected by festival jurors from 1,984 submissions received from 521 artists in 40 states and 25 countries. Only about 10% of the art submitted was accepted.
The work chosen for the exhibition is the portrait excerpted here of model Cory Barnes, whom we hope to feature in a future Nakedism photo set.
Andrew's work has appeared in six out of the last seven festivals. In his first appearance in 2005, his submission won the Audience Award in the Northwest Category. As a result, he was an Invited Artist the following year. Andrew was also an Invited Artist in the mini-festival the group sponsored in 2008.
Hosting the May 20-22 event is Fremont Studios, a sound stage production facility in Seattle's Fremont district, long considered one of Seattle's artist communities. The April 2 Launch Party will be held at Cirque Event Center at 121 Taylor Avenue.
The Seattle Erotic Art Festival, or SEAF, showcases visual, performance and literary art, interactive installations, film, after parties, workshops, and a Festival Store. With a theme of "Red Light District," the festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors.
